NLP for Coaches: Hypnotic Language Patterns 1 - Mind Read and Lost Performative

Something that takes a little longer than normal for the dedicated student to assimilate is the Milton Model of hypnotic language patterns.
This series is designed to help you let it become a part of you so you will have the knowledge accessible from an unconscious level.
Take your time and read over this article a few times, read it very slowly the second time.
The Milton Model is named after Milton Erickson, considered the father of hypnosis.
This article is designed to help you understand and assimilate the Mind Read and Lost Performative language patterns.
As you will notice below I have underlined the usage of both of these patterns.
A Mind Read is claiming to know the thoughts or feelings of another, without letting them in on how you know that information.
A mind read is based on something that is plausible.
For your convenience, I have underlined the Mind Read and Lost Performative examples below.
Once you get a feel for them, you may start using them easily and effortlessly in your own hypnotic communication.
I know you are wondering how to use this technique.
And as you wonder, you may start to get curious how you can pick up a technique at an unconscious level.
You may believe that you can't learn easily and effortlessly through unconscious assimilation.
Are you getting the idea? In part of my NLP training, we would get up in front of the group and give our presentations that had to be full of hypnotic language.
I can still hear their words.
I remember Debi would say, "I know you are learning this easily, and you may be thinking about how you can use this in your daily life.
" You may notice a Mind Read if the statement begs the question, "How do you know?" A Lost Performative is another hypnotic language patter that I want to share with you.
It is a value judgment where the one doing the judging is not specified.
It's a good thing to learn about Lost Performatives.
Studying Lost Performatives are the best way to understand how value judgments are generalized.
In the paragraph above, notice that there is no specified person who said that "it is a good thing," or that it is "the best way.
" The performer is left out (lost).
Here is another example: This is the best thing we can do for our organization.
You may notice a Lost Performative if the statement begs the question, "Who says?" Make a note in your calendar to notice the Mind Reads and Lost Performatives you hear today, and the ones that you are using.
It's helpful to be aware of these hypnotic language patterns.
I know that you are excited about using them.
Your awareness of them will train your unconscious mind, and you know, it is good to train your unconscious mind.
Sooner or later you will be using the Mind Read and other hypnotic language patterns easily and effortlessly.
For fun: On the last three underlined statements, label each one, Lost Performative or Mind Read.
